Bill “Whiteshoes” Johnson graduated with distinction from the US Naval Academy in 1981 with a BS in Aerospace Engineering and entered a 26-year career as a Naval Officer flying high performance jet, carrier-based aircraft. He served as the Chief of Naval Operations, Air Directorate (N98) Special Programs Requirements Officer for five years responsible for resourcing Research and Development (R&D) of new technologies critical to the future of Naval Aviation. In 2007, he joined Northrop Grumman Mission Systems as program director for various advanced development efforts spanning all business areas and technology thrusts including Advanced Electronic Warfare, Weapons, Tactical Aircraft and ISR sensor systems. In these roles, he engaged regularly with every R&D entity with the Department of Defense including DARPA, AFRL, ONR and OSD Research and Engineering. In November 2020, he founded an independent consulting firm, Single Seat Consulting LLC, and in March 2021 joined Air Advisory as a managing partner and VP of Technology. He has also earned an MBA from Florida Institute of Technology and a MA of National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College.Sessions
